The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Nalanda University have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote technology deployment, sustainability, rural development, skill enhancement and scientific outreach. The collaboration is designed to connect CSIR’s indigenous technologies with Nalanda University’s international academic ecosystem for community-centric development.
What happened
The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR and Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR); Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice-Chancellor, Nalanda University; and Shri Rudrendra Tandon, Secretary (East), Ministry of External Affairs.
The partnership focuses on using scientific and technological inputs for model village development, solid waste management, water quality improvement and environmental sustainability in and around the Nalanda region. The MoU also seeks to strengthen engagement between Nalanda University and local communities.
What changes now
Before this MoU, CSIR and Nalanda University were separate institutions with different core roles: CSIR as India’s premier scientific research organisation and Nalanda University as an international higher-education institution. The MoU creates a formal framework for joint action in sustainability, rural outreach, capacity building and knowledge exchange.
