What happened

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy announced the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo (BRE Summit & Expo) 2026 to be held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, from 2nd to 5th November 2026. The Ministry also stated that the Prime Minister has agreed to inaugurate the summit, which will be launched through the “URJHA Chakra” official logo and a dedicated digital portal and mobile application.

What happened inside the summit design

The Ministry stated that BRE Summit & Expo 2026 will, for the first time, bring together three renewable-energy-focused events under one platform: (1) BRE Summit & Expo 2026, (2) the 9th Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly, and (3) the 4th International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH). Invitations were extended to 34 countries for BRE Summit & Expo 2026, while the International Solar Alliance invited 128 countries for the ISA Assembly.

Background and earlier position

India’s renewables policy and implementation ecosystem already involves a continuing shift from stand-alone capacity additions to a broader “energy transition” focus. The Ministry’s stated approach includes four enabling pillars—policy stability, market creation, ecosystem development, and transmission infrastructure—and a move toward system-level capabilities using hybrid renewable energy projects, battery energy storage systems, floating solar, agrivoltaics, and the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
