What happened: PMAY-G review and state-wise implementation snapshot (June 2026)
The Ministry of Rural Development reports that Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana–Gramin (PMAY-G) is reviewed through multiple mechanisms: Performance Review Committee (PRC) meetings, Empowered Committee (EC) meetings, Common Review Mission (CRM), Area Officers Schemes, reports of national level monitors, and regular field visits by ministry officers. Empowered Committee (EC) meetings were held in March 2026. Annexure I provides state-wise numbers of houses sanctioned, completed, and pending as of June 2026.
Background and earlier position: scheme structure and delivery support logic
PMAY-G is a centrally supported rural housing initiative implemented through states. In the scheme design described in the government’s Rajya Sabha written reply, housing delivery is supported not only through housing unit assistance but also through convergence for sanitation (toilet construction through Swachh Bharat Mission–Gramin) and livelihood support (unskilled wage employment through convergence with MGNREGS/VB G-RAM G, within approved scheme parameters and at prevailing wage rates).
What changed now: EC/PRC/CRM and the June 2026 sanctioned–completed–pending status
The current update focuses on (i) the timing of Empowered Committee (EC) meetings in March 2026, and (ii) the state-wise quantified implementation status as of June 2026—covering houses sanctioned, houses completed, and houses pending across all listed states and Union Territories.
