What happened: FTSCs and exclusive POCSO Courts reported as functional in Madhya Pradesh
The Union Minister of Law and Justice, Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal, reported in a Lok Sabha written reply that the High Court of Madhya Pradesh has information showing 67 Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs) functional under the Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Fast Track Special Courts (FTSCs), including 56 exclusive POCSO Courts.
The reported functional coverage for expeditious disposal of cases relating to rape and offences under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act is district-wise as follows:
Ratlam district: 2 FTSCs are functional, including 1 exclusive POCSO Court.Jhabua district: 1 FTSC is functional.Alirajpur district: No FTSC is functional.
District-wise case workload at FTSCs: instituted, disposed, pending
The Lok Sabha written reply provides the number of cases instituted, disposed, and pending before FTSCs (including exclusive POCSO Courts) in Ratlam and Jhabua for the last two years. “Pending” is reported as pending as on 31 December of each relevant year.
