What happened: turnaround time improved across India’s major ports
The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, reported improved port efficiency using the metric of vessel turnaround time (time taken for a vessel to complete operations at port). Average turnaround time across all major ports improved from 52.87 hours in 2021–22 to 48.84 hours in 2025–26.
