What happened: GeM completes 10 years of operations
The Government e-Marketplace (GeM) is set to complete ten years of operations on 9 August 2026. GeM, a fully digital public procurement platform, reported cumulative Gross Merchandise Value (GMV) of over ₹20 lakh crore through more than 3.78 crore orders, positioning GeM as a central channel in India’s public procurement ecosystem.
GeM reported growth in annual GMV from ₹422 crore in FY 2016–17 to over ₹5 lakh crore in each of FY 2024–25 and FY 2025–26. For the first four months of FY 2026–27, GeM reported GMV of ₹1,47,888 crore.
GeM reported a change in the speed of cumulative growth: it took more than eight years to reach the first ₹10 lakh crore cumulative GMV, while the next ₹10 lakh crore milestone was reached in less than two years.
