What happened (10 August 2026, Mumbai)?
Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah inaugurated the NUCFDC new office premises at Sharada Sadan in Fort, Mumbai. At the BSE International Convention Centre in Mumbai, he launched the ‘Sahkar Nav-Kranti’ programme for modernising Urban Cooperative Banks. Under the nationwide service bundle, Shah launched (i) a Security Operations Centre for Urban Cooperative Banks and (ii) core banking and allied services offered through an integrated approach that includes a ‘Bank in a Box’ service.
Background and earlier position (Urban Cooperative Banks need shared support)?
Urban Cooperative Banks operate at a scale where many institutions are small, multi-branch or even single-branch. The event positions NUCFDC’s umbrella role as a practical mechanism to guide banks toward RBI compliance standards and to provide technical and institutional support, including timely information on reforms and regulatory changes.
What changed now (Security Operations Centre + ‘Bank in a Box’ + MoU for forensics)?
1) Security Operations Centre (round-the-clock cyber monitoring) was launched for Urban Cooperative Banks under the nationwide service bundle. 2) ‘Bank in a Box’ was launched as a single integrated platform that includes core banking, digital payments, cloud services, regulatory compliance and modern banking facilities—described as enabling even small single-branch banks to offer modern banking at lower cost. 3) An MoU was exchanged between NUCFDC and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) for cybersecurity and digital forensics support, linking forensic expertise to bank cyber defence. 4) The event highlighted that the umbrella organisation for Urban Cooperative Banks has been recognised by the Reserve Bank of India and has adequate capital, along with a new office premises.
