What happened: NUCFDC’s Mumbai office inauguration and new banking digital initiatives

Union Home Affairs and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah inaugurated the new office of the National Urban Co-operative Finance and Development Corporation Limited (NUCFDC) at Sharda Sadan, Fort, Mumbai on 8 August 2026 (as announced by the Ministry of Cooperation via PIB). On the same occasion, Amit Shah interacted with representatives of State Urban Cooperative Bank Federations and district associations of Maharashtra.

Amit Shah also participated as Chief Guest in the “Sahakar Nav-Kranti” programme at the BSE International Convention Centre. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was present at the programme (as announced by the Ministry of Cooperation via PIB). During the programme, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged between NUCFDC and the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) to strengthen cyber security, technological capabilities, and institutional capacity in the Urban Cooperative Banking sector.

Amit Shah inaugurated a Security Operations Centre (SOC) to strengthen the cyber security of Urban Cooperative Banks (as announced by PIB). The programme also included launching a Core Banking Service and allied services under a nationwide service bundle. During the event, representatives of the first six Urban Cooperative Banks successfully connected to “Sahakar CBS” were felicitated (as announced by PIB).

Amit Shah released a book titled “Operational Risk Management – A Practical Guide to Urban Co-operative Banks”, authored by G. P. Mistry (former Deputy General Manager, Reserve Bank of India), as announced by PIB. The book provides practical guidance on the identification, assessment, and effective management of operational risks for Urban Co-operative Banks.
