What happened: Ministry of Education cites NCRB/ADSI student suicide data and lists prevention measures

The Ministry of Education reported that the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) collects suicide data from police-recorded suicide cases and publishes yearly analysis in the Accidental Death & Suicide in India (ADSI) reports. In a written reply in Lok Sabha, the Ministry of Education mapped these data-based causes of student suicides with government measures across schools, higher educational institutions (HEIs), coaching centres, and tele-mental health services.

NCRB suicide statistics are compiled from police recorded suicide cases. The Ministry of Education stated that the ADSI reports provide student suicide details year-wise, state-wise, and by gender and age group. It also listed several causes of suicides reported in the data analysis, including:
