What happened: Ministry of Culture’s National Framework for Cultural Diplomacy under GES

The Ministry of Culture announced a National Framework for Cultural Diplomacy built around the Global Engagement Scheme (GES). The stated aim of GES is to strengthen India’s international cultural engagement and cultural diplomacy through structured bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

GES is designed to promote India’s civilizational heritage, cultural diversity, and contemporary creative traditions. The Ministry states that the scheme supports cultural exchanges, heritage conservation, documentation, capacity building, and engagement with international cultural organisations.
