What happened: DDP notified the 6th Positive Indigenisation List
The Department of Defence Production (DDP), Ministry of Defence notified the 6th Positive Indigenisation List (PIL) comprising 405 strategically important defence items. The notification estimates an overall business potential of Rs 3,070 crore for these items.
The 6th Positive Indigenisation List includes Line Replaceable Units, sub-systems, sub-assemblies, spares, components, and raw materials.
The notification specifies the division of items between the Indian Coast Guard and Defence Public Sector Undertakings as follows:
16 items for the Indian Coast Guard (ICG)389 items for Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs)
The notification also lists example defence categories covered by the 6th Positive Indigenisation List, including air platforms, armoured platforms, warships, missile systems, defence electronics, and critical ammunition.
