What happened (Munirka, Delhi assault case)
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognizance of a reported assault in the Munirka area of Delhi. NHRC stated that two men from Manipur were assaulted by two persons.

NHRC observed that, if the reported facts were true, the incident raised serious issues of human rights violation.

NHRC used suo motu cognizance, meaning NHRC took up the matter on its own based on available information, rather than waiting for a complaint from a named complainant.
