What happened (NHRC took suo motu cognizance)
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognizance (NHRC initiates proceedings on its own without a complaint being filed) of an allegation involving a 16-year-old girl in the Greater Noida area.
The allegation states that a bus driver and a bus conductor subjected the girl to gang rape (involving multiple perpetrators). The alleged incident date is 4 August 2026.
The allegation further states that the perpetrators extended life threats and left the girl at Kashmere Gate Bus Terminal in Delhi.
