What happened: online GATC recognition applications opened by the Department of Consumer Affairs

The Department of Consumer Affairs, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, invited eligible organisations to apply online for recognition as Government Approved Test Centres (GATCs) under the Legal Metrology (Government Approved Test Centre) Rules, 2013.

Key features of the application process announced by the government include an online portal, digital submission, and application tracking:

Through the government portal emaap.gov.in/gatc, eligible industries, laboratories, engineering colleges, polytechnics, Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and testing facilities can submit applications, pay fees digitally, track application status, and communicate with the department.

The application window is open for 17 August 2026 to 31 August 2026 (up to 5:00 PM).
