What happened (Prime Minister’s interaction with private space startups)
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacted with CEOs and founders of 20 space startups at Seva Teerth. The participants included founders and chief executives working across multiple space-related activities such as building rockets, reusable semi-cryogenic launch vehicles, avionics, satellites, advanced propulsion systems, space and defence intelligence, and removing space debris.
The interaction also covered data and applications areas such as AI-powered hyperlocal weather and climate intelligence. Participants shared progress in India’s private space industry and shared their vision for the sector’s future.
Background and earlier position (private entry into space as a catalyst)
The startup leaders highlighted that they have invested time and effort in building capabilities and in developing required technologies indigenously in India. They also described gratitude for government support and noted collaboration within the industry.
The participants attributed enthusiasm and new opportunities to opening the space sector to private participation. They also stated that multiple companies have shown interest in adopting and leveraging technologies developed by India’s emerging private space industry.
