What happened: CCI sanctions for cartelisation in agro input dealer associations

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) passed an order dated 21.08.2026 under Section 27 of the Competition Act, 2002. CCI imposed both monetary and non-monetary sanctions on the following parties for cartelisation (anti-competitive agreement or understanding):

CCI’s order was issued in Case No. 06 of 2023, and the public version of the order is available on the CCI website.

Parties sanctioned by CCI included: AIDA and AIWA, along with individuals Mr. Manmohan C. Kalantri and Mr. Arvindbhai Jerambhai Patel. CCI also identified association officials who were found liable under Section 48 of the Act.

Legal findings and directions: cartel contravention and cease-and-desist

CCI found that AIDA, AIWA, Mr. Kalantri, and Mr. Patel acted in contravention of Section 3(3)(b) read with Section 3(1) of the Competition Act, 2002.
