The Ministry of Communications released telecom subscription indicators for end-July 2026 using subscriber data submitted by telecom service providers (TSPs) to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The indicators cover total telephone subscribers (wireless mobile/FWA plus wireline), net additions during July 2026, and tele-density—subscriptions relative to projected population.

The Ministry of Communications reported broadband subscribers with and without M2M cellular mobile connections (M2M means machine-to-machine cellular connections used for devices):
With M2M cellular mobile connections: Wireless 1,046.34; Wireline 48.14; Total 1,094.48 million.Without M2M cellular mobile connections: Wireless 957.58; Wireline 48.14; Total 1,005.72 million.
