What happened: June 2026 telecom subscription snapshot (PIB) from the Ministry of Communications
The Ministry of Communications released a June 2026 telecom subscription snapshot through PIB, based on data provided by Telecom Service Providers (TSPs) to the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The release reports broadband subscribers (including and excluding M2M cellular mobile connections), telephone subscribers (wireless and wireline), rural–urban splits, tele-density with and without M2M, and Mobile Number Portability (MNP) activity. These figures track telecom penetration and subscriber change month-by-month.

The June 2026 release reports the following subscriber bases (values are in million):
Broadband subscribers (including M2M cellular mobile connections):
- Wireless broadband subscribers: 1039.78 million - Wireline broadband subscribers: 47.71 million - Total broadband subscribers: 1087.50 million
