What happened
The Ministry of Labour & Employment launched the nationwide ideation Hackathon “Digital Shram Sankalp: Reimagining India’s Labour Ecosystem with AI” on 5 August 2026 and extended the submission deadline for hackathon entries up to 18 September 2026. The hackathon is hosted on the Innovate India platform of MyGov. It invites participants to submit innovative and implementable ideas to strengthen India’s digital labour ecosystem using emerging technologies.
As per the government announcement, the hackathon has received an encouraging response so far: about 1,000 users have submitted 1,368 ideas across 12 problem statements. The hackathon is open to students, start-ups, innovators, entrepreneurs, institutions, researchers, and technology professionals.
Background and earlier position
The Ministry’s digital labour ecosystem includes key online platforms named in the hackathon announcement: eShram, National Career Service (NCS), and Shram Suvidha Portal 2.0. These platforms are positioned as digital channels meant to support workers, jobseekers, employers, and establishments. The hackathon uses these platforms as the target areas for solution proposals.
