What happened: NCS Portal rollout, upgrades, and wider service coverage

The Ministry of Labour and Employment implements the National Employment Service to facilitate job seekers and employers and to provide employment assistance services such as jobseeker registration, collection of vacancies from enterprises, and vocational and counselling guidance. The National Employment Service has been transformed into the National Career Service (NCS).

The Ministry states that the NCS Portal is a one-stop solution for providing career-related services. These services include jobs from private and government sectors, information on online and offline job fairs, job search and matching, career counselling, vocational guidance, and information on skill development courses and skill/training programmes through a digital platform at www.ncs.gov.in.

The Ministry reports reported portal scale and usage since inception and for a specific cut-off date. More than 6.64 crore jobseekers have registered on the NCS Portal since inception. As on 15.07.2026, the Ministry reports 2.89 crore active jobseekers. The Ministry also reports that more than 10.05 crore vacancies have been mobilized on the NCS Portal since inception, and as on 15.07.2026, the Ministry reports 17.68 lakh active vacancies. The Ministry states that State and Union Territory-wise details of registrations and vacancies are available through a static report page on the NCS Portal website.

The Ministry states that improvements in the NCS Portal are continuous and dynamic. The Ministry reports that the NCS Portal has been upgraded to a cloud-based, open-architecture platform. The Ministry lists portal enhancements including integration with various public and private job and skill portals; AI-powered features such as intelligent job matching, AI skill gap analysis, personalised job recommendations, and an AI interview coach; multilingual support through Bhasini; cloud-based applications for jobseekers and employers; robust verification mechanisms; and the launch of a mobile application for accessibility and user experience.

The Ministry states that it signs Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with private and public employers and portals to strengthen public-private partnerships for improving employment opportunities for jobseekers. The Ministry reports that more than 40 MoUs have been signed, including MoUs with private partners such as APNA, Swiggy, Rapido, Zomato, Amazon, TCS iON, Quikr, and FoundIt (Monster). The Ministry attributes facilities such as job fairs listing, skill development programmes, and career counselling to these partnerships on the NCS Portal.
