What happened: Fit India Sundays on Cycle (89th edition) in Surat with a substance-free pledge
The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports organised the 89th edition of Fit India Sundays on Cycle in Surat on 7 September 2026. The theme for the event was “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat,” and the programme focused on promoting a healthy, active, and substance-free lifestyle.
At Surat, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya and Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi participated along with athletes, fitness enthusiasts, students, youth, and citizens. Participants took the “Nasha Mukt Pledge,” reaffirming a collective commitment to a safer and drug-free India.
The 89th Sundays on Cycle in Surat started early morning at the Sardar Patel Statue, Mangadh Chowk, with fitness activities such as yoga and zumba, and multiple challenges. After the start, participants cycled toward Sarthana Zoo, and several athletes addressed the gathering.
The Ministry’s communication also states that the event promoted the message associated with Nasha Mukti Sankalp Abhiyan and the “Fit India” movement by encouraging citizens—especially young people—to stay away from substance abuse and contribute to a “Nasha Mukt Bharat.”
