What happened (Abdusattorov’s outlook for the home Olympiad and the World Championship cycle)
Uzbek chess grandmaster Nodirbek Abdusattorov expects Uzbekistan to pursue team gold at the home Chess Olympiad in Samarkand. Abdusattorov said the Uzbekistan squad has already held several training camps in Uzbekistan ahead of the Olympiad.
Abdusattorov also described his expected support role around Javokhir Sindarov’s World Championship match against Gukesh in Geneva (Nov 25–Dec 15). Abdusattorov said he intends to re-join Sindarov’s preparation and take part in joint training.
Abdusattorov predicted a slight advantage for Gukesh because Gukesh has experience from playing in a previous title match. Abdusattorov added that match outcomes depend on each player’s form, preparation, and other factors.
Background and earlier position (Uzbekistan’s rise through Abdusattorov and Sindarov)
Abdusattorov presented Abdusattorov and Sindarov as close teammates and emphasized internal camaraderie rather than rivalry as a factor behind consistent results and the idea of a “golden generation” for Uzbek chess.
