Forward Seamen’s Union of India reports that 15 sailors are trapped in the Ukrainian port of Chornomorsk because of missile and drone attacks in the vicinity. The union says 13 of these sailors are Indians and that the crew is aboard the vessel M.V. AMIR1.
Forward Seamen’s Union of India urges relevant authorities, the shipowner, the flag state, and the Government of India to ensure the sailors’ safety and arrange prompt repatriation.
Forward Seamen’s Union of India also reports a separate incident in the Black Sea corridor. On July 25, the Palau-flagged general cargo ship AGN RAGNAR was attacked by three drones while exiting the Bystre Mouth of the Danube into the Black Sea.
Forward Seamen’s Union of India reports that during the drone attack two Indian seafarers reportedly jumped overboard: Chandra Ram Dubey and Gupta Kumar Deepak. The union says the two seafarers later remained missing and that search operations were called off.
