What happened
An Assam Rifles camp in Senapati district, Manipur, was attacked after security forces carried out an area-domination patrol and search operation based on intelligence about armed cadres near an NSCN (I-M) camp. According to the Defence spokesperson, residents, including women, blocked the patrol from entering villages, and the force withdrew after explaining that the operation was meant for security and peace.
Later, a crowd gathered in town, moved toward the camp, threw stones, and allegedly tried to set property on fire. Officials said vehicles were damaged, including one light vehicle that was burnt and two trucks that were overturned; a civilian car was also set on fire. The authorities said minimum force was used, no injuries were reported, and the situation was brought under control.
