What happened (Kangpokpi and Senapati districts)

Violence between Manipur groups in Kangpokpi and Senapati districts included arson and gunfire. Imphal officials reported that unidentified miscreants torched a house in Taphou Kuki village in Kangpokpi district early on Monday. Soon after, another house was torched at Taphou Naga village in Senapati district.

As tensions rose, groups exchanged fire after 9 a.m.. In the reported crossfire, a CRPF sub-inspector was hit and later admitted to a local hospital.

After armed firing, local residents blocked National Highway 2 (Imphal–Dimapur) for several hours. Security forces heightened alert along the highway and in vulnerable villages.

A statement attributed to the Taphou Kuki village authority condemned the arson attack as deplorable and inhuman, appealed for restraint, and urged district administration, police, and competent authorities to investigate, identify those responsible, and ensure justice under law. Vehicles left around 1 p.m. after both sides agreed to maintain peace.
