What happened (Delhi High Court appeal)
Tahir Hussain, a former Aam Aadmi Party councillor, approached the Delhi High Court to challenge his conviction and life sentence for the murder of Intelligence Bureau (IB) officer Ankit Sharma. The murder case is connected to the February 2020 riots in north-east Delhi.
Hussain’s appeal was filed on August 24. The appeal is expected to come up for hearing in the next week.
Hussain’s appeal seeks to set aside the trial court’s conviction order dated July 13 and the trial court’s sentencing order dated July 31.
