Karnataka Minister B. Nagendra is reported to be considering resignation from the Karnataka Cabinet.
Opposition parties have demanded B. Nagendra’s resignation and allege embezzlement of funds linked to the Maharshi Valmiki Scheduled Tribe Development Corporation.
Reports state that Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot sought clarity on whether B. Nagendra should continue in the ministry after a CBI plea for sanction for prosecution.
Enforcement Directorate action is reported to be underway through a chargesheet related to an alleged multi-crore scam.
Reports indicate that B. Nagendra spoke with Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar and expressed a desire to resign. Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar denied any resignation proposal at the moment and said party workers and ministers are disciplined. Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar is expected to travel to Delhi, where top Congress leadership including party president Mallikarjun Kharge may discuss filling a vacant Cabinet seat, including a possible appointment of a woman legislator.
