What happened
The National Testing Agency announced the results of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination held on June 21. The re-test followed the cancellation of the original May 3 examination after an alleged paper leak.
About 20 lakh candidates appeared in the re-test, and 11.21 lakh qualified for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and allied undergraduate courses.
UPSC may use the NEET-UG re-examination to test issues of examination integrity, the functioning of the National Testing Agency, and the policy challenge of ensuring fair access to medical and allied health education. The event also offers a gender-and-education angle because women formed more than 58% of qualifiers.
