What happened in the NEET-UG paper leak case (fast-track court bail stage)
A specially designated fast-track court deferred the first hearing connected to the NEET-UG examination paper leak case because the counsel for the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not appear.
The court scheduled bail arguments for accused individuals, but the court recorded two kinds of non-appearance: State counsel did not appear within the court’s time window. Defence counsel cited other commitments for non-appearance.
After recording these non-appearances, the court rescheduled the bail matter for a later date. The court also instructed the Director of Prosecution to ensure that a public prosecutor is deputed for future proceedings.
