Notable decline in school dropout rates reported for 2025-26

The Union Education Ministry released an updated report based on UDISe+ for the academic year 2025–26, describing a decline in dropout rates.
It reported that dropout figures fell at the preparatory level (Classes 3–5), dropping from 2.3% in 2024–25 to 1.8% in 2025–26.
At the secondary level (Classes 9–12), dropouts decreased more sharply, from 8.2% to 7.0%.
