The Union government approved two elevated highway projects for Varanasi with a stated outlay of Rs 25,446 crore. The stated objective is to ease congestion, improve traffic flow, and strengthen access to a major pilgrimage and tourism city.
The approval is part of a broader infrastructure push centred on urban decongestion and faster travel. The projects are also expected to improve regional mobility and logistics, according to the government release.
