The 72nd National Film Awards recognised several films and artists from Indian cinema. The most visible honours went to Article 370, Bramayugam, Chandu Champion, Amaran and Swatantrya Veer Savarkar, making the awards relevant for GS1 culture revision.
What happened
Article 370 was named the best feature film of 2024. Yami Gautam won the best female actor award for the same film.
Mammootty won the best male actor award for Bramayugam and shared the honour with Kartik Aaryan for Chandu Champion. The award became Mammootty's fourth National Film Award for best actor.
Rajkumar Periasamy won best director for Amaran, and G.V. Prakash Kumar received the music director award for the same film. Randeep Hooda won best debutant director for Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.
The jury also gave special mentions and regional awards to films including Meiyazhagan, Pushpa 2, Feminichi Fathima, Mithya, Raayan and Kalki 2898 AD.
