The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting said the Government is supporting Indian filmmakers through the Development, Communication and Dissemination of Filmic Content (DCDFC) Scheme, National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) support, and overseas promotion initiatives. The policy significance lies in the combined goal of regional film production, project development, and international market access for Indian cinema.
What the Government said
According to the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, the DCDFC Scheme provides financial assistance for the production of regional films. The same official communication says NFDC also extends financial assistance to filmmakers.
The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting further said the Government supports Indian filmmakers’ participation in major international film festivals and film markets. The stated support also covers Indian Missions abroad that organise activities to promote Indian cinema and connect Indian and international film industries.
Promotional platforms mentioned by the Ministry
The official communication refers to WAVES Bazaar, Work-in-Progress Labs, Viewing Rooms, film markets, and programmes that facilitate international coproductions. The stated function of these platforms is project development, networking, and overseas market access.
