What happened

The National Medical Commission’s Post Graduate Medical Education Board has decided to stop handling routine requests on whether candidates are eligible for appointment, promotion, or designation to teaching posts in medical colleges. The board wants appointing authorities, medical institutions, universities, and other competent bodies to decide such matters under the existing regulations.

The National Medical Commission will keep only more complicated cases for institutional routing, and those cases will attract a fee of ₹25,000.
