What happened
The Supreme Court granted interim protection in a demolition dispute arising from Rajasthan’s border districts. The protection covers people affected by demolition drives targeting mosques, madrasas, dargahs, homes, and other structures, and the Court ordered that no demolition should take place for two weeks.
The petition was filed by Jamiat Ulama-i-Hind on behalf of 40 affected people. The Supreme Court said disputes involving contested questions of fact are better handled by the jurisdictional High Court and allowed the petitioners to seek relief before the Rajasthan High Court’s Division Bench at Jodhpur.
