What happened: BJP alleges disruption of Lok Sabha proceedings
BJP leaders accused Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and the Congress of disrupting Lok Sabha proceedings and creating confusion. Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda presented BJP’s core allegation as changing stated demands by Rahul Gandhi and preventing the House from functioning.
J.P. Nadda made these allegations during a press briefing and challenged Rahul Gandhi to debate any issue in the Lok Sabha.
J.P. Nadda alleged that Opposition disruption of Lok Sabha proceedings continued for about 15 days. J.P. Nadda also claimed the Opposition’s demands shifted across multiple issues, including NEET (linked by J.P. Nadda to a paper leak issue), Ram Mandir Trust, and a demand for a Home Minister statement on the Jantar Mantar matter.
On the Jantar Mantar matter, J.P. Nadda argued that Opposition statements misled the public by alleging that shots were fired. J.P. Nadda stated that no shots were fired and no order was issued.
J.P. Nadda also criticised Opposition walkouts from debates. J.P. Nadda cited Opposition conduct during debates on SIR (special intensive revision of electoral rolls) and debates on price rise, and claimed the Opposition avoided discussion instead of engaging in dialogue.
