What happened

The Union Home Ministry expanded the number of international ports where foreign nationals holding e-visas can enter India. The ministry added 11 new entry points—nine land ports and two airports.

Background and earlier position

Foreign nationals holding e-visas can enter India only through international ports authorized by the government through notifications. Before the latest expansion, the total number of international ports authorized for e-visa entry was below 88.
