What happened in Delhi’s Assembly
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented a Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The CAG presentation highlighted a declining trend in capital expenditure and reduced infrastructure investment during the AAP’s tenure.
The CAG report referred to in the Assembly was titled “State Finances for the year 2024-25”.
The Assembly presentation pointed to fiscal outcomes for the period 2015–25: capital expenditure share declined as part of total spending, and subsidies increased sharply, including a large rise in electricity subsidies.
The Assembly session also included political protests and legislative activity involving AAP MLAs and the education minister around alleged irregularities in bicycle purchases under the Vidya Vahini scheme. The Chief Minister distributed bicycles to Class 9 girls and defended the programme publicly.
Two Bills were introduced: an amendment bill by the education/urban development minister to change the cut-off date for considering a cluster as a slum for rehabilitation, and an IT minister’s citizen services bill aimed at time-bound delivery and ease of services.
