What happened: Supreme Court listed Tamil Nadu’s Cauvery plea for Thursday
Tamil Nadu approached the Supreme Court of India to seek an early hearing in its inter-state Cauvery water allocation dispute with Karnataka. Tamil Nadu’s counsel argued that Karnataka’s alleged non-compliance has placed farmers in a precarious position.
The Supreme Court, presided over by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, listed Tamil Nadu’s application for hearing on Thursday.
Tamil Nadu’s plea also requested specific directions tied to reservoir releases, shortfall correction at an inter-state point, and scheduled monitoring of reservoir flows.
