The Delhi High Court granted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders four weeks to respond to a criminal contempt case connected to allegedly “vilifying” social media posts. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma initiated the criminal contempt case.

The Delhi High Court’s order covered respondents including Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh, and other AAP leaders.

During the hearing, counsel for Arvind Kejriwal submitted that the respondents had not yet received the material on which the contempt allegations were based. Other parties made similar requests.

The Delhi High Court directed the Delhi High Court registry to supply the basis material to respondents and granted four weeks to file replies.

In a separate contempt petition, the Delhi High Court granted four weeks to AAP leader Gopal Rai and journalist Saurav Das to file replies. The petition alleged involvement in an orchestrated social media campaign against Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma.
