What happened
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia filed an application before the Delhi High Court seeking dismissal of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) revision petition. The CBI revision petition challenged their discharge in the Delhi excise policy matter.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia argued that the CBI filed the revision petition with “unprecedented haste” and in an “unserious” manner. They also characterised the special court’s discharge order as “thoroughly judicial”.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia stated that the special court had heard the Delhi excise policy matter in detail for months.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia claimed that the CBI revision petition did not identify specific findings that were “perverse” (i.e., legally or factually wrong in a way that indicates error) or show irregularity. They also argued that the revision petition lacked particulars explaining how the discharge of each accused was allegedly improper.
Arvind Kejriwal and Manish Sisodia further argued that the revision petition was incomplete because it did not refer to relevant material from the discharge judgment.
