The Delhi High Court expressed concern after examining a list submitted by the Delhi government indicating that large quantities of critical medical equipment were unused across 26 city government hospitals.
The High Court highlighted conditions at Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital as particularly alarming, citing examples such as unused ventilators and unused oxygen concentrators. The Court also noted similar problems in other city government institutions, including the Delhi State Cancer Institute.
The Delhi government’s explanations in some hospital cases centred on two operational problems: gaps in technically qualified manpower and situations where equipment could not be operated because of missing components or accessories.
