What happened (Congress claims during the Monsoon Session)

Congress leaders alleged that the Modi government was “scared and rattled” during the Monsoon Session because Opposition unity prevented several contentious measures from being pushed through in Parliament. Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah of avoiding Parliament and refusing to answer Opposition questions during the Monsoon Session.

Congress general secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal alleged that the government “ran away from responsibility” across the session. Venugopal criticized the government’s silence on issues including police action against protesting students and an alleged donation theft connected to the Ayodhya Ram Temple.

Congress communications chief Jairam Ramesh argued that the Monsoon Session demonstrated Opposition strength. Jairam Ramesh compared the Monsoon Session disruption to a prior “washout” in 2015 linked to the Vyapam scam and said the current disruption also stemmed from an issue involving youth.
