What happened: TMPK suspends “economic blockade” but issues a 48-hour ultimatum
Takam Mising Porin Kebang (TMPK), the apex student body of Assam’s Mising community, suspended an “economic blockade” of Arunachal Pradesh after assurances were provided through talks involving the Assam government and civil society groups in Arunachal Pradesh.
After suspending the blockade, TMPK issued a 48-hour ultimatum demanding the arrest of four individuals based in Arunachal Pradesh. TMPK accused these individuals of involvement in an August 10 firing incident tied to a land dispute.
In the August 10 firing incident, 11 people from Assam were reported injured in Mingmang Bodoti area of Assam’s Dhemaji district.
The events included protesters blocking a road leading to Arunachal Pradesh.
