The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued a show-cause notice to an empanelled architect after a four-storey under-construction building in Rohini Sector 16, north-west Delhi, collapsed and killed three people. What happened
According to police and civic officials, the collapse happened earlier in the week. By Thursday, police recovered the bodies of Ram Dua (62), husband of the registered building owner Manju Dua, and Kafe Mohammad alias Nurul (24), a site worker. A third victim, Ram Kishan (42), died on Wednesday after being trapped under debris while passing through the area.
An MCD official said the architect was asked to respond within three days. The civic body is trying to determine whether there were defects in the sanctioned plan that may have contributed to the collapse, especially because the registered owner’s husband died in the incident.

The MCD’s SARAL scheme allows small plot owners to choose an authorised empanelled architect from the civic body’s website for preparation, self-certification, and sanction of building plans without independent verification by the MCD.
