What happened
Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu issued directives to Delhi’s civic agencies to handle waterlogging with urgency during heavy rain across Delhi. Sandhu directed that waterlogging be treated as a disaster-like situation for the purpose of response speed and severity of action.
Sandhu instructed senior officials and engineering heads to personally oversee on-ground remedial work. The directive emphasised action-oriented supervision rather than office-only monitoring.
Sandhu ordered expedited installation of pumps at all vulnerable city points. Lok Niwas (the Lieutenant-Governor’s office) stated it would monitor the situation closely and ensure real-time redressal of citizens’ complaints.
