Former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and senior Congress leaders close to him are scheduled to meet Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel in Delhi. The meeting is intended to communicate the sentiments of party workers and supporters in Punjab as the Congress prepares for the 2027 Punjab Assembly election.
The internal politics of the Punjab Congress shows an ongoing balancing act. Channi had reportedly been unhappy about not being appointed state unit president, while several leaders have continued to push competing views on who should lead the party in the state and who should be projected as the chief ministerial face.
