Congress began a mass mobilisation programme at the booth level in Punjab ahead of the Punjab Assembly poll expected in early 2027. Bhupesh Baghel, Congress general secretary in charge for Punjab, presided over the programme at Fatehgarh Sahib during a nine-day visit.
The programme was described as notable for the conspicuous absence of former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who was reported to be upset with the Congress reorganisation. Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring asserted that Congress remains strong and united despite natural differences of opinion.
