What happened
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lead an Indian ministerial delegation to attend the 4th India–Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in Singapore. India’s delegation will also include External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, and Minister of State (MoS) for Electronics & IT and Commerce & Industry Jitin Prasada.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will be accompanied by about 70 senior business leaders to strengthen India–Singapore economic and commercial ties across multiple sectors, including: technology/software/AI, manufacturing and engineering, infrastructure and sustainability, financial services and fintech, healthcare and life sciences, food and agriculture, logistics and maritime/trade, and professional services.
Background and earlier position
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry describes ISMR as the top ministerial mechanism to advance the India–Singapore Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. ISMR was established in 2022.
