The Supreme Court directed the Union government to share the latest report produced by the National Forensic Sciences University with the petitioner NGO Kuki Organisation for Human Rights. The case concerns alleged involvement of former Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh in ethnic violence in Manipur.

The dispute centers on audio clips that allude to N. Biren Singh. The National Forensic Sciences University report is described as stating that leaked audio clips alluding to N. Biren Singh have been “clearly manipulated.”

The Centre’s stand was presented through Additional Solicitor-General Aishwarya Bhati, representing the Union government and the State of Manipur. The Centre’s position, as reported, is that even the first-generation copy of the audio clips showed alterations.

Petitioner side arguments were also reported. Advocate Prashant Bhushan objected strongly, citing tests at “Truth Labs” that found a 93% match with N. Biren Singh’s voice.
